Does one have to consume the food before testing to find out if they are sensitive to it?Updated 4 days ago
We never recommend consuming a food that you know triggers a severe reaction just for testing purposes.
Sensitivities are highly reactive to frequency/quantity of a food in the diet. The science behind hair expression is based on its short-term memory. Some scientists say 6 weeks, other say 3 months memory. If a food is totally removed from the diet for this amount of time, the food on being retested comes up nonreactive. By keeping that food in the diet, the memory is still there and so is the reaction. It is therefore possible that by carrying out an elimination diet for 30 days prior to collecting your sample for testing that the reaction you expect to see from foods which you would have a reaction to may not be present on the results.
